Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) has made a cash donation of GH¢250,000.00 to the College of Engineering at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
Engineer Benjamin Ntsim, Director of Northern Network Department, explained at the presentation that GRIDCo and the College had a longstanding collaboration.
Following the decision of the College to modernise one of the Boardrooms to state of art conference room status, GRIDCo recognised the need to support it towards achieving the standard of the Boardroom, because of the longstanding relationship where most of the staff were trained to become professional engineers.
Professor Kwabena Biritwum Nyarko, Provost, College of Engineering (CoE) at the KNUST, expressed gratitude to the Chief Executive Officer and the entire staff and management of GRIDCo for the kind gesture.
He hoped the donation would go a long way to help the transformational agenda of the College to raise the standard of the Boardroom.
The Provost expressed worry over the alarming brain drain of engineers to the United States of America (USA), and wished that the majority of those being trained at the College stayed in the country to contribute their quota to development.
He assured GRIDCo that the College of Engineering could produce software for its operations and that they should not hesitate to rely on the College when the need arises.
