Brigadier General Charles Agyemang-Prempeh, General Officer Commanding (GOC) Central Command, has affirmed his commitment to building on the mission and vision of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) to meet global standard.
According to him, the mission and vision of the GAF had not changed, and that he would build on it to see a well-motivated and formidable Army capable of meeting global standards.
The GOC commended the personnel for their hard work and dedication to duty, and advised them to eschew any behaviour that would put the enviable name and reputation of the Command into disrepute.
Brigadier Agyemang-Prempeh declared this commitment when he paid his maiden visit to 3 Infantry Battalion (3 BN) and 4 Infantry Battalion (4 BN) Area of Responsibility (AoR) last week from August 14 to 18, 2023.
The visit was to introduce himself to the personnel and acquaint himself with challenges in Administration, Operations and Logistics in the respective units and troops.
At 3 BN and 4 BN, he was given a detailed brief by the Commanders Rear, Lieutenant Colonel E. Tenadu and Major S.K. Dapaah, respectively, after which he held a durbar with all the ranks.
At 3 BN, the GOC and his entourage visited the Forward Operating Bases (FOB) at Sankore and Atebubu, and also paid a courtesy call on the Regional Ministers of Bono and Ahafo.
Brigadier General Agyemang-Prempeh visited the Kumasi Shoe Factory, Kumasi Military Hospital at Afari, and AngloGold Ashanti Obuasi, all within the AoR of the 4 BN.
At a durbar with troops at the 4 BN, the GOC assured the personnel of his resolve to deal with the accommodation challenges in the Units, adding that, to augment the government’s effort, the Command had commenced a 30-unit project on a self-help basis to help resolve the situation.
The GOC was escorted by the Command Operations Officer (COO), Colonel Henry Ansah-Akrofi, and the Deputy Command Logistics Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Michael Siaw Amoah.
