The training will cover 22 disciplines including Tailoring, Masonry, Dressing making and Aluminium Fabrication.

The training commenced last year with Phase One, which trained 389 individuals in the Ashanti Region and six other regions.

Mr. Moses Antwi Benefo, Head of Media, GNPC Foundation disclosed that the programme was a “livelihood empowerment in partnership with NVTI and Aseda Foundation.

He said there were three groups in all; one in the Ashanti Region and the remainder in the other 11 regions and graduates would be given start-up tools.

Mr. Benefo emphasized that while the GNPC was responsible for the provision of start-up tools, the examination and certification are conducted and done by NVTI respectively.

According to Mr. Benefo, “Management has targeted to empower 10,000 skilled and independent Ghanaians by 2030 for the benefit of their families.

Mr. Benefo also explained that application to the programme was “very open”, but based on a “selection criteria”.

Mr. Antwi Benefo advised participants not to sell the start-up tools to be given to them upon graduation, but rather work with them, so that their dependents and Ghana as whole can benefit from them.
