The Dean of Faculty at the Entrepreneur and Enterprise Development, Dr. Charles Akomea Bonsu, deputising for the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Osei-Wusu Achiaw, commended the gas company for the edifice, which, he noted, had made the dream of the Technical University to have many branches within the country a reality.

Dr. Ben K.D. Asante was also commended for providing the 12-unit classroom block for the Kumasi Technical University campus at Juansa.

According to him, the Academic Board and the University had all accepted that the university opens  a branch at Juansa, making the 12-unit classroom block a requisite condition for the Juansa campus.

Dr. Akomea Bonsu said the university had put all the necessary arrangements in place to enroll students for programmes such as Diploma in Oil and Gas, Diploma in Automotive Engineering, Diploma in Catering and Hospitality, Diploma in Business Administration, and other courses at the new Juansa campus.

He assured the gathering that the University was determined to provide high-calibre skilled manpower. with reference to manufacturing, commerce, science, and technology to act as a catalyst for technological development.

Also at the commissioning and handing over ceremonies were Nana Owusu Ansah Arabia, Board Member of Ghana Gas Company, Andy Appiah-Kubi, Member of Parliament for Asante Akim North, and Francis Oti Boateng, Asante Akim North Municipal Chief Executive.

The Kumasi Technical University was established in 1954 as Kumasi Technical Institute (KTI) to offer craft courses.

In 1963, the Institute was converted to a non-tertiary Polytechnic status under the Ghana Education Service to offer technician diploma and sub- professional courses.

The University has become an important centre for the training, not only for Ghana, but also for other African countries.
