The Ghana Audit Service has commissioned a new office at Tepa, in the Ahafo Ano North Municipality in the Ashanti Region.
The Tepa office comes under a project, which comprises 19 offices; three commissioned regional offices at Koforidua, Cape Coast and Ho and 16 municipal and district offices with Asamankese, Dodowa and Offinso offices already commissioned).
The project is funded by Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW), a German state-owned investment and development bank, based in Frankfurt.
Mr Johnson Akuamoa, Director-General, Audit Service disclosed that initially, his outfit was accommodated by various MMDAs, which made it difficult to audit them, noting that this rendered his outfit “inefficient and ineffective”.
According to the Director-General, the new offices are “very spacious”, and will facilitate them to work efficiently and effectively, without any “favour or fear”.
Mr. Akuamoa disclosed that the Service, used to have challenges with their “budget releases”, but since the Akufo-Addo led government assumed office, it’s being released on time, as well as a “relative” increment each year.
He disclosed that the budget had facilitated the construction of new office buildings at Winneba and Sogakope, as well as the refurbishment of over a decade abandoned four storey building of the Service, in Kumasi. The KfW, he said, had agreed to fund the Service with 12 new buildings, to cater for their inadequate office space nationwide.
Mr. Johnson Akuamoa urged his staff to take good care of the new buildings, noting that an “annual sinking fund” will be set aside to prevent the buildings from deteriorating.
Nana Adusei AtwenewaaAmpem I, Omanhene of Tepa Traditional Area expressed his excitement over the new office building and entreated staff of the Audit Service to take good care of the building to prolong its lifespan.
