The Stadtwerke Neu-Isenburg GmbH, a utilities company in Germany, has donated computers to the German Ghanaian School at Atwima Denchemuoso in the Kwadaso Municipality of Kumasi.
The items comprised 17 desktop computers, six laptops, four printers and a projector as part of Stadtwerke’s support to the school.
The Neu-Isenburg City authorities were in the country in October last year as guests of the Kwadaso Municipal Assembly and paid a visit to the school, during which Mr. Kirk Reneke, Director of Stadtwerke Neu-Isenburg, promised to donate some used computers to the school upon his return to Germany.
Mr. Osei-Tutu Karikari, Director of the German Ghanaian School, who took delivery of the items, expressed his appreciation to Stadtwerke Neu-Isenburg for the support to augment its computer laboratory, especially the projector and the printers, to make the children to improve their tutorials in Information Communication Technology (ICT).
He said the school had some computers, but they were mostly obsolete, and that these new ones were obviously going to support their work and make things a bit easier for the school.
The German Ghanaian School, currently with a population of about 220 children from kindergarten to Junior High School (JHS), has wonderful educational infrastructure, located in a serene environment, and is run largely on non-profit basis as the fees charged are not commensurate with normal private school in the country.
