Fitii We Family denies allegations of fraud against former MP

The Principal Elders of Nii Kwaku Fitii We, have vehemently denied recent media reports suggesting that they were defrauded by Emmanuel Nii Okai Laryea, the former National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for Amasaman.

In a strongly worded statement issued today and signed by key figures, including Paul Laryea and James Adama Afful, the elders categorically dismissed the allegations as baseless and without merit.

They emphasised that Emmanuel Nii Okai Laryea was duly appointed and entrusted with the leadership of the Nii Kwaku Fitii We family in October 2018, following traditional protocols.

According to them, the claims of financial misconduct totaling GH¢100,000 and misuse of his position for personal gains are entirely unfounded.

To them, Emmanuel Nii Okai Laryea has faithfully executed his responsibilities for the collective benefit of the Fitii We family, in accordance with their customs and traditions.

Furthermore, the elders clarified that there are no ongoing criminal or civil proceedings against Emmanuel Nii Okai Laryea in any court of law, asserting his innocence in the matter.

The statement also addressed the lineage and leadership succession within the Fitii We family, stating that there has been no recognised successor to the late Nii Kwaku Fitii III, who passed away approximately seven years ago.

This clarification underscores the family’s position within the Gbese Paramouncy jurisdiction, for which the public was urged to disregard the recent allegations as false, fabricated and malicious attempts to tarnish the reputation of Emmanuel Nii Okai Laryea.

They added that the former MP remains the legitimate Head of the Fitii We and continues to oversee all family affairs with the full authority vested in him.

Additionally, the Fitii We has called for respect and adherence to the truth in reporting on matters concerning their internal affairs and leadership structure.
