A retired Seventh-Day Adventist Minister based in Europe, Pastor Dr. Albert Owusu Dapaah has charged the President of Ghana Nana Akufo-Addo and the Members of Parliament not to rest on their oars in their quest to kick out same sex activities from the country.
He has advised against passing the Anti-LGBTQ+ Bill into law no matter the financial conditions of the state.
The Parliament of Ghana has since February 28, 2024 passed the Bill into Law. Ghana is currently divided on the pro and anti-LBGTQ+ arguments after the Parliament recently passed the bill into law but the President is yet to assent it.
In his meeting with the Diplomatic corps, the President, Nana Akufo-Addo assured them that Ghana would not renege on its sound record of rule of law.
But Dr. Albert Owusu Dapaah insisted that despite the fact that some top politicians in Europe were strongly fighting for the rights of Same Sex actors, Ghana, the beacon of hope and democracy would at the end of the debate show the World that we are indeed a sovereign country.
According to Pastor Owusu Dapaah, financial pressure from our foreign economic partners should not be the precinct on which to compel our leaders to kowtow to the demands of Same Sex promoters both within the country and outside.
Speaking to SOMPA fm and monitored by The Chronicle in Kumasi during the Social Day celebration of the Amakom District of the South Central Ghana Conference of the SDA church over the weekend at the Amakom church premises, Dr. Albert Owusu Dapaah, who had led the SDA church in about nine European countries including Israel, said the same sex act is a complete abominable act seriously frowned upon by God adding no living creature created by God had ever been involved in the practice.
He challenged that with good austerity measures observed by the leaders of the country the economic misfortunes at the moment would be turned around to the extent that we may not necessarily need any financial support from any quarters of the World.
He has, therefore, urged the Christian communities in the country, the Muslim religious leaders as well as the practitioners of the traditional religion to let their voices be heard so that the act would never be permitted into the country.
The former Treasure of the European-Ghana Adventist Church Community (EGACCOM), therefore, admonished the Nana Akufo-Addo led government show leadership and ensure that the Anti-Gay Bill is passed into law so that his tenure would not be blotched by this issue of Same Sex accusations.
