The Kyekyewere-Dadwen Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound is set to benefit from a new Children’s Weighing Centre, following a ground-breaking ceremony by Obuasi-based Non-Profit Organisation, the Fifty 50 Club.
The facility, estimated to cost GH¢70,000,00 is to enhance child healthcare delivery in the Kyekyewere-Dadwen Electoral Area as part of the Club’s 5th anniversary interventions.
Mr. Jacob Edmund Acquah, President of the organisation explained at the ceremony that the project is expected to strengthen child healthcare through growth monitoring, immunisations, nutritional support and health education.
He indicated that the services to be provided include vitamin A supplementation, hygiene and parenting guidance for caregivers, support prevention of mother-to-child HIV transmission with Antiretroviral Therapy (ART) and testing.
Mr. Acquah disclosed that the Project was in response to the health facility’s request, to support children’s welfare fundamental to growth.
Mr. Eric Attuahene, Adansi North District Health Director, expressed the view that the initiative was crucial for child welfare and maternal health and HIV prevention.
Mr. Appiah Kubi, Assembly Member for Kyerewere-Dadwen Eectoral area stated that the Project would help the CHPS compound expansion plans and elevate status towards full health centre.
