Nana Appau Wiafe Ababio Sanwoansan, chief of Hemang in the Kwabre South district of Ashanti region has commissioned an ultra-modern community centre for the community from his own resources.
It is christened Fentemfrem Community Centre, explained to mean “Mother of all Community centres”.
Since June 22, 2015, when Nana Appau Wiafe Ababio Sanwoansan ascended the Ekuona Apau and Brefo stool of Hemang as chief, he has embarked on a number of development projects for the community.
The modern community centre, situated on a one and half acre plot of land, is intended to serve as an events centre for all social gatherings including funerals.Nana Apau Wiafe Sanwoansan who succeeded Nana Owusu Brefo II, who died in 1995, said at the commissioning of the Fentemfrem Community centre that he wishes to leave a befitting legacy out of the love for the growth and development of the community.
The Hemanghene also extended appreciation to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu, for giving him the chance to serve and promote Asante culture in his own small way.
He also expressed gratitude to Madam Sunderland Adwoa Dawn, Executive Director of Bridge-To-Africa Connection (BTAC) and its circle of partners and supporters for being the backbone of his developmental agenda for the community.
Since October, 2017, Nana Apau Wiafe Sanwoansan, has constructed a befitting palace for the community from his own resources as his personal contribution to the development of the town, which was engaged in 19 years of chieftaincy dispute.
The Hemanghene has also provided a fence wall around the royal mausoleum situated on an acre of land and renovated a six-unit classroom block of the Roman Catholic Primary school at Hemang at the cost of GHc60,000 as well as painting the local Junior High School.
The chief has also presented 50 dual desks to the school to furnish the renovated school and supplied a quantity of branded exercise books for distribution to schools in the locality.
The Gyamadudu Museum, which is under construction would be inaugurated next year to mark the 10th year anniversary of his enstoolment.
