In the Political Theory of Organised Chaos, is a chapter entitled, the Act of Apologising for Not Apologising at First. It simply applies to situations where someone’s apology, is deliberately not sincere.
Organised chaos, is defined as a situation that appears disordered and chaotic on the surface but actually has an underlying order or structure. In politics, politicians apply such theory by, creating alarming and chaotic situations to introduce confusion, fear and panic in society, while they successfully benefit and achieve what they want. Today in Ghana, such politicians are up and about misinterpreting one thing and the other and creating confusion in the country with the hope of achieving their political desires.
Recently, Ghana’s only statesman, H.E. J.A. Kufuor as been trending in the news with attacks on his personality. He had done two things which did not sink down well with some people in this country. The first one was his advice to Speaker Bagbin to accept the Supreme Court’s decision on the Parliament’s vacant seats’ saga and the second was hisendorsement of Dr. Bawumia to become the next president.
Organised chaos in politics showed up when two unscrupulous Ewes, Dela Edem and Samuel Mawutor, descended on our former president and spoke in a manner that will make people conclude that they are dzimakpla, meaning they were not brought up at all by their parents and elders in their family but rather reared like domestic goats, are. Their conduct is an embarrassment to their families; in fact, they are a big disgrace to the entire noble Ewe ethnic group.
For, how can grown up men utter such unprintable words, which can only come out from uncultured street kids who do not have any culture and proper upbringing?
In fact, Ewes are known to be peoples who respect old age and would not do or say anything bad about the adult and the elderly. That was yesterday, today however, some Ewes talk carelessly, daring anyone to correct them.
It is important to note that this nation used to be a nation of peoples whose conducts were orderly and full of courtesy to the elderly until 1979, Rawlings, gate-crashed on the scene and instilled into the young the habit of insulting and disrespecting adults and elders, at will.
On developments in Ashanti during Kufuor’s era, Dela Edem does not know what he is talking about. To this day, the NDC are doing everything possible to convince Asantes to vote for them by saying that the NPP has done nothing for the region. By the way, how many important projects had the PNDC/NDC done for Volta region during their total of twenty-seven years in power, to always claim the region as their own?
Dela goes on to say that it was because of the sins of Kufuor that is why he was punished by God by being confined to a wheelchair. Is he saying anyone confined to a wheelchair is a sinner condemned by God? Is Dela and the NDC not condemning the physically-challenged as well?
This is completely a word from the devil’s own mouth, for in truth, God is not punishing Kufuor, as Christ explains in John 9:3 and 11:4. Should Dela Edemgo about condemning sick people as sinners being punished by God, he could easilyend up calling for plagues upon himself and his loved ones. He should know that, like everyone else, he is also sinner.
His stupid and unguided reaction to Kufuor’s call on Speaker Bagbin to obey the Supreme Court’s ruling on the vacant seats, clearly exposes his political upbringing in a party which only accepts court rulings that goes in its favour and condemn to hell, those that do not.
Dela spoke with the weight of sound backing and protection from NDC, only to realise his harebrained conduct ranks him among the lowest species of animals, and decided to apologise. In that silly apology, he showed that he was not sorry for what he earlier said about Kufuor with words like, “I sincerely render an unqualified apology to President Kufuor for the comments I made in reference to his “wheelchair.”
Thank You!”What nonsense! As if Kufuor is desperately in need of an apology, which was not even directed to Kufuor but to the general public. It is like saying, if you people want me to apologise, here you have it. This kind of apology is classified as the act of apologising for not apologising at first.
By this apology which shows no indication of remorse, it shows that some powers are behind Dela Edem, urging him on. He must know how stupid he is for accepting to show his face in doing someone’s dirty works. This will stick on him, for it is his face people now know.
Dela Edem should realise that in his family, there is no one who is a peer to Kufuor. Our former president is highly regarded in Ghana and beyond, and this showed after his retirement as president, he had to traveled many times out of the country to honour invitations to important engagements than he did when he was president. Rawlings was invited to just a few international engagements because of how the international world perceived him.
Another non-entity who only wanted to use Kufuor’s name to get noticed in Ghana, is Samuel Mawutor, who like Dela has foolishly allowed his face to be used to do someone’s dirty work, which will also adversely affect him, soon.
He also descended so low as to spew out words that easily ranked him among the semi-literates of the PNDC era, who know nothing but pretend to. He should know that Kufuor, unlike Rawlings genuinely created wealth before he became president. He is living well, by not only getting what is constitutionally his by right, but also by reaping what he sowed earlier in his life.
And has Samuel, ever paid lampo before, to talk about he, being a regular taxpayer,to have the guts to talk about taxpayers’ money taking care of Kufuor? He must know that if the state decides, today not to take care of Kufuor, he will not want and there are people who will cater for him and even do better than the state is doing.
All these non-sensical uproar was because Kufuor as a statesman advised Speaker Bagbin to accept and act upon the Supreme Court’s ruling on the vacant seats’ saga. I must confess, I earlier supported Bagbin after interpretating Art. 97 (1 g & h) at face value, until the Supreme Court explained the law, properly.
Political ethnocentrism comes in play here. Where were Dela and Mawutor when Rawlings, their fellow Ewe did some wrong things in Ghana? Recalling some, under his instructions, a man of God was killed in Kumasi and dragged on the streets and in Accra a Catholic religious, Bro. Kukah was killed and his body was dumped at the beach. Rawlings could utter uncouth words and once undiplomatically came out of an indoor meeting with West African heads of state and openly blasted them.
Kufuor only advised the Speaker to respect the Supreme Court’s rulings and also showed support for a candidate in the race, only to be attacked by these two simpletons, who claim they are Ewes.
Ewes are naturally not like this and it behoves the elders of this tribe to bring back those days of respect and decorum.
All hell broke loose, when Kufuor endorsed Dr. Bawumia as the one to be next president. Is Bawumia the problem? What will happen if he had picked Alan, Mahama or Cheddar? Will that also be a problem?
We are in a democracy where every one has the right to decide on which candidate to endorse. Even those barred from engaging openly in politics, especially the chiefs, do come and endorse candidates of their choice.
Most of those against Kufuor’s endorsement of Bawumia are saying he is a statesman and statesmen do not talk like that? Like what? What about Obama and Clinton endorsing Kamala? They will say, that is America; it is not allowed in Ghana? Which part of our Law bars statesmen and women from endorsing candidates?
What about Rawlings, who as a statesman went about endorsing Atta-Mills throughout the eight years of Kufuor’s administration and even openly insulting Kufuor, the sitting president? Did anyone remind him that as a statesman, he should conduct himself well? Or was it because he was a White man and we still possess that colonial-master mentality? Double standards, I will say.
Democracy is about personal choices, so one should not be insulted if his choice is not what others want.
Kufuor is a statesman and with his rich experience in presiding over a country like Ghana, he may be the best to know who among the twelve should be president. That does not mean the rest should lose hope. This should rather encourage them to work harder and leave Ghanaians to decide.”
Since I saw nothing about statesman in our Constitution, I turned to the dictionary for its definition:
A statesman or stateswoman is a respected, skilled and experienced political leader or figure. In most respects a statesman is the opposite of a politician.James Freeman Clarke said, “A politician thinks of the next election. A statesman, of the next generation.”
Kufuor is a statesman, and has expressed his opinion on who could be a good president for Ghana and transform the country into the next generation. It is just his opinion. Let us show him respect for all the good things he has done for this country and continues to do.
