The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has announced that it has shut down several unlicensed water-producing facilities in parts of the Greater Accra Region, including Ashaiman, Teshie, Nungua, and the Ga West Municipal area.

In a post shared on its official X (formerly Twitter) platform, the Authority said the action formed part of its ongoing Compliance and Surveillance Operations targeting unlicensed and non-compliant facilities.

According to the FDA, the affected producers were operating without the required licenses and were found to be manufacturing water under unhygienic conditions.

“The FDA urges the public to purchase only products from FDA-approved facilities,” the statement read.

The Authority reiterated its commitment to protecting public health by ensuring that only safe and properly regulated products are available on the market.
