FBN Bank staff, Accountant accused of stealing GH¢2m

An employee of First Bank of Nigeria (FBN), Joseph Dotse, together with an accountant of Flipture Enterprise, Benjamin Nunoo Anyetei, have been accused of allegedly stealing GH¢2 million from Flipture Enterprise.

Although Joseph Dotse is currently on the run, 25 years old Benjamin Nunoo Anyetei was arraigned before the Circuit Court ‘2’, presided over by Rosemary Baah Torsu, yesterday over conspiracy to commit a crime, to wit stealing, and stealing.

Nunoo, however, has allegedly pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The court was informed by the police prosecuting officer, Inspector Jonas Lawer, that the complainant was the Operation Officer of Flipture Enterprise.

He narrated to the court that while the complainant and accused were working in the same company, the latter was assigned the responsibility of keeping records of the cash flows of Flipture Enterprise and its sister companies.

Inspector Lawer added that in March this year, the company detected some financial irregularities, and, therefore, decided to run an internal audit on its accounts, adding, “in the course [of] the auditing, it came out that an amount of GH¢2,000,000.00 had been stolen by Nunoo Benjamin Anyetei.”

The company reported the matter to the police and the accused was arrested.

He added that when the accused was interrogated he admitted the offence and mentioned one Joseph Dotse, who works with First Bank of Nigeria (FBN), as his accomplice.

Inspector Lawer told the court that an investigation was underway to arrest Dotse.
