Although it was not yet officially done, the transfer of Brazilian Fabinho to Al-Ittihad may fall through when all parties (Liverpool, the player and the Saudi club) already had a verbal agreement for the transfer of the Brazilian player in exchange for just over 46 million euros.
The reason for the possible collapse of the deal is that Saudi Arabia bans French bulldogs, the breed of the two dogs owned by Fabinho, from entering the country.
The country considers these dogs to be dangerous and aggressive and only allows them into the country for hunting or as guides for blind people, but never as pets for the population. The breed status of these dogs also extends to Rottweilers and pit bulls, which are not allowed to enter the country.
For that reason, Al-Ittihad have made a special request for the Saudi Arabian government to grant the OK for Fabinho to arrive accompanied by his two mascots.
The Brazilian had agreed a four-year contract with the team coached by Portugal’s Nuno Espirito Santo, where he would partner Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante and Portugal’s Jota, who arrived in this transfer window.
