Spurs to sign Bayern’s Tel
Tottenham Hotspur have agreed a deal to sign France Under-21s forward Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich. The structure of the transfer is yet to be confirmed – and it is unclear if it will be a permanent or loan deal. The 19-year-old reportedly rejected Spurs earlier this month but is now expected to move to north London.
A picture was posted by his agent Gadiri Camara on Monday appearing to show them both on board a private jet.
Tel has made 83 appearances for Bayern since joining from French club Rennes in 2022, scoring 16 goals and providing seven assists. If the Tel deal is completed, it would be the club’s second in two days after they announced the signing of Austria defender Kevin Danso on loan from Ligue 1 club Lens on Sunday.
Brighton sign Tzimas for £20.8m
Brighton have signed 19-year-old forward Stefanos Tzimas from Nuremberg for £20.8m (25m euros). The Greece Under-21 international has signed a contract until June 2030 but will remain in Germany with Nuremberg for the second half of the season.
“Stefanos is an exceptional young talent, an out-and-out centre-forward with a natural ability to score goals,” said Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler.
Tzimas joined Nuremberg from PAOK in the summer on loan, in a move that included an option to buy. Nuremberg activated that option before his move to Brighton.
Tzimas is Brighton’s third signing of the winter window after Paraguay midfielder Diego Gomez joined from Major League Soccer club Inter Miami and defender Eiran Cashin moved from Championship side Derby for a fee of £9m.
Chelsea target Amougou
Chelsea are getting pretty close to signing France midfielder Mathis Amougou for a fee of about £12m. The 19-year-old from Saint Etienne is believed to be an exciting talent for the future and could be heading back out on loan to Chelsea’s sister club Strasbourg in Ligue 1 to develop further.
A product of the prestigious Clairefontaine French football academy, he officially moved to Saint Etienne in 2021. Of Cameroonian descent, Amougou is eligible to represent both Cameroon and France at international level and has made appearances for the France youth teams.
Joao Felix a man in demand
Chelsea midfielder Joao Felix is close to completing a six-month loan move to Serie A club AC Milan. If the deal goes through, the Blues will get a £5m loan fee, while there would be no obligation for Milan to buy the player in the summer.
Felix, a 25-year-old Portugal international, has only started three Premier League matches this season, though regularly features in cup competitions.
He has scored seven goals in 2024-25 – one in the 6-2 league win over Wolves in August, and two goals apiece in Conference League matches against Panathinaikos and Noah, and a double against League Two Morecambe in the FA Cup.
Crystal Palace reject £70m bid for Guehi
Crystal Palace have rejected a bid from Tottenham for defender Marc Guehi thought to be about £70m. The England international, who attracted interest from Newcastle in the summer, has 18 months left on his contract with Palace.
He has made 23 appearances and scored three goals in the Premier League this season as Palace find themselves 12th – three points above Tottenham in 14th.
Spurs are not expected to increase their bid for the 24-year-old in this window.
Palace turned down four bids from Newcastle for Guehi in the summer, with the final offer worth up to £65m.
Chelsea are also understood to have Guehi on a list of defensive targets, despite selling him to Palace for £18m in 2021.
Newcastle Kelly set for Juve
Newcastle United defender Lloyd Kelly is set to join Juventus on loan before signing for the Italian side permanently in the summer. The loan covers the remainder of the 2024-25 season, with Juve then having to make the move permanent in a £20m deal.
Former England Under-21 defender Kelly joined the Magpies on a free transfer in June after his contract with Bournemouth expired.
However, the 26-year-old has made just 10 appearances in the Premier League this season and has not started since November.
It is understood Newcastle believe the deal is too good to turn down and could strengthen their position when it comes to Profit and Sustainability rules (PSR).
Asensio to Villa edging closer
In Aston Villa-related news, Cher Ndour has completed his permanent move from Paris Saint-Germain to Fiorentina.
That frees up an international loan for the French champions – which should be that of Spanish forward Marco Asensio, who should join Villa until the end of the season.
If the Asensio deal is completed, it will be fascinating to see how Unai Emery plans to divide playing time between him, Rashford, Watkins, Rogers and Malen.
Crystal Palace Schlupp to Celtic
Sky Sports are currently reporting that Crystal Palace winger Jeffrey Schlupp could join Celtic before tonight’s deadline.
The 32-year-old is out of contract with the Eagles in the summer and the two clubs are reportedly negotiating how much of Schlupp’s wage the Scottish Premiership side will cover.
The Ghanaian has not started a Premier League match all season but has made 12 appearances from the bench.
