The Member of Parliament (MP) for Ellembelle, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has inaugurated an ultra-modern Community Health Planning Service (CHPS) to serve the people of Santaso, in the northern part of the district.
The CHPs compound, equipped with beds and others, was wholly sponsored by the Legislator at a total cost of GHC700.000.
Sod cutting for the construction of the Center was done on April 13, this year, by Armah Kofi Buah and completed in less than six months.
The CHPS compound has a Delivery Room, ANC room, Dressing room, Detain room, OPD and RCH amongst others. It was all joy for the chiefs and people of Santaso, following the inauguration of the project.
Present at the ceremony were; Nana Manful, chief of Santaso with his entourage, Rev. Alex Donkor, Fountain of Life Chapel, Augustine Amoako, Ellembelle Health Director, Daniel Eshun, former (DCE) for Ellembelle, amongst many others.
Addressing the people, Armah Kofi Buah expressed joy that the center had been completed and same handed over to serve the community and other satellite communities.
He said, looking at the strategic location of Santaso, other satellite communities would surely benefit from the center.
The CHIPS compound, he indicated, was going to change the lives of the people, especially women and children. This is because hitherto, the area had incidences of women and children travelling longer distances to Adusuaso to access healthcare.
“This is going to transform lives, especially for women and children”, Legislator Armah Buah announced.
The completion and handing over of the project, according to Armah Buah, was an indication of sturdy progress in transforming communities, whether in the area of health, water and electricity amongst others.
The Legislator also presented a sum of GHC65,000.00 to the District Health Directorate for the repair and fixing of an ambulance he had personally donated, when he was the Energy Minister.
When the ambulance is eventually repaired, it would be used to attend to referral cases at the Santaso CHPS compound and other CHPS compounds in the District.
That apart, the Legislator also donated 10 motorbikes valued at GHS170,000 to the Ellembelle Health Directorate for use in community health engagements.
The presentation follows a plea by the Health Directorate to the Legislator to help the GHS take health to the people in other remote areas in the District.
Dr. Augustine Amoako, the district director of health services thanked the MP for the presentation.
He said the presentation of the Motorbikes would help the Directorate take primary healthcare to the people living in the rural communities.
The District Health Director also commended the MP for the early completion and handing over of the CHPS compound, noting it would help to save lives.
The Ellembelle District Health Director also inaugurated both the community Health Members for the CHPS compound and Community Health Volunteers.
Mr Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah has meanwhile presented start-up tools to beneficiaries under his Apprentice skill Training Programme.
Termed ‘Skill-Up”, the training programme is offering youth of Ellembelle skill training in sewing, mechanic, hair dressing, carpentry, welding and fabrication amongst others.
All what one needed to do is to register with the Legislator’s office and the latter would take the full cost of the training programme.
For instance, if one chooses sewing, the Legislator caters for the full training cost plus tools for the training. It is as a result of this that on Saturday, the MP presented tools to the manifold beneficiaries who are undergoing various skill training.
Tools such as hand sewing machines, hair dryer, plus cash sums were presented to the trainers of the programme.
For instance, if a trainer such as a seamstress has five apprentices, the trainer takes GHC2,500 plus tools for each of the apprentices.
About 100 tools were presented to the beneficiaries of the skill training programme.
