The Ghana Police Service has arrested an Electoral Commission (EC) official at the Kintampo South Constituency for alleged electoral malpractice during the ongoing general elections.
The suspect, identified as Dery Joseph, is accused of issuing approximately 15 ballot papers that omitted the first presidential candidate on the ballot, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
This incident occurred at the Ampesika Bayere polling station, where some voters reportedly noticed the discrepancy and raised concerns.
Preliminary investigations indicate the omission was deliberate, although the police are yet to establish a motive.
Authorities have assured the public of a thorough investigation and have urged voters to report any irregularities they encounter during the election process.
Meanwhile, a disturbance at one of the polling stations in the Okaiwai Central Constituency briefly disrupted voting activities earlier today.
The situation was swiftly brought under control by security personnel, and calm has since been restored.
