The East Cantonments Pharmacy Limited (ECPL), one of the leading distributors of healthcare products and services in Ghana, has donated 20 pieces of ALARIS Syringe and Volumetric Pumps, worth GHc410,000 to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
The pumps would aid in the timely administration of blood infusion and also other fluids into the system of patients at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of KATH.
The company, which focuses on the distribution of innovative medical device solutions to Healthcare Institutions and Medical Practitioners, has added a Non-Pharma division to its business line in order to ensure improved patient care and bridge the gap in healthcare delivery in the country.
Mr Frederick Robert Coleman, Key Account Manager, ECPL, disclosed that the donation comes as a result of Prof. Otchere Addai-Mensah, CEO of KATH’s pleas to the General Operations Manager of ECPL, Mr. Kwaku Bediako, upon his visitation last September during, which “infusion and syringe pumps” were identified as the of the short term critical need of the hospital.
According to Mr Coleman, as part of ECPL’s corporate social responsibility, it was prudent to respond positively to the “request”, noting that the donation will go a long way to enhance healthcare delivery at KATH.
Mr. Coleman indicated that as credible partners, ECPL takes great delight in supporting the hospital, and most importantly the patients, noting the significant impact the donation will make.
Prof. Otchere Addai-Mensah thanked the management of ECPL for their philanthropic works and noted that it would facilitate the work of medical staff “easy” as well as beneficial to the “ultimate beneficiaries”(patients).
Ms. Eno Akua Afriyie Biney, Consultant Emergency Physician, KATH who received the medical equipment on behalf of management and staff of the hospital expressed her profound gratitude to ECPL for their benevolence act. She also noted that the Accident and Emergency Department of the hospital has been “in need” of the pumps for a while now; hence her excitement.
