The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has commissioned the 1st phase of the Regional Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) Control Center to help control, monitor and analyse industrial devices and processes in the Eastern Region.
The SCADA project aims to assist ECG with field data gathering and reduce manual activities. The facility will increase operational efficiency in the region.
In order to ensure staff efficiency, capacity-building workshops have been organised for the staff on the SCADA project on its operations which covers Mpraeso, Oda, Mile 50 and Nkawkaw districts in the region.
Speaking to the press after the inspection of the Regional SCADA Control Center, the Director of Power at the Ministry of Energy, Mr. Solomon Adjetey, advised the staff to take good care of the project in order to benefit the entire region.
According to him, the government has invested huge amounts of money to enable ECG to operate efficiently, adding that the project will empower ECG to deliver its functions to customers and stay relevant in the districts.
The ECG Eastern Regional Manager, Mrs. Sariel Etwire, said the project will help the team to supervise and monitor systems on their networks.
Mrs. Etwire indicated that ECG, as part of its strategic effort, is improving on its systems for reliable power distribution with safety measures for staff in the region and, therefore, urged customers to pay their bills to help the government achieve its target by making the light stable for all Ghanaians.
