Eastern Tech Hub is at the forefront of fostering IT development and entrepreneurial growth in Koforidua, Ghana.
Founded in 2019, the Eastern Tech Hub is into digital skills training, entrepreneurial training, business advisory support, partnerships, and co-working space.
Positioned as an IT resource center for aspiring entrepreneurs and youth, the Hub has developed a streamlined process that walks individuals through designing their business ideas, creating business modules, and obtaining essential IT training to suit the current digital world.
Speaking with The Chronicle’s Maxwell Ofori during a visit to the Hub with the Partnerships Coordinator of Fondation Botnar, Zur Oren, on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, the Tech Hub said they have a plan to help young entrepreneurs obtain industrial equipment to start and grow their ventures.
The Eastern Tech Hub was co-founded by two young innovative men, Jones Amarkai Amerteifio and Isaac Akutey, both of whom left their “good-paying” jobs to start their own business in IT, a decision borne out of passion for the sector.
A key focus of the Hub is bridging gaps in resources that young people in the region often face after vocational training; thus, the Hub aims to create the avenue to access soft loans, with a plan to sustain it.
Isaac and Jones mentioned that the Eastern Tech Hub transcends IT to supporting young people to establish medium- to small-scale businesses like salons and tailoring shops with a solid framework that supports long-term growth.
Recognising the high demand for skilled trade in Koforidua, Eastern Tech Hub is almost complete with a module that aims to fill the demand by providing necessary resources to potential entrepreneurs.
Meanwhile, Eastern Tech Hub will require beneficiaries to undergo rigorous training in business planning, financial management, and technology, ensuring they have the knowledge to sustain their ventures.
With a growing reputation, Eastern Tech Hub has a strong message for potential entrepreneurs in Koforidua and beyond.
“We believe in thinking big and taking that first step. Whether you’re a student or a business owner, we provide the tools and knowledge to turn ideas into tangible success stories.”
In the near future, the Hub aims to expand its training to reach local government and council workers, promoting collaboration across the public and private sectors to drive economic growth.
By embedding technology and entrepreneurship training into local structures, Eastern Tech Hub is equipping Koforidua’s youth and emerging entrepreneurs with the tools to drive sustained development.
The Eastern Tech Hub is home to several digital platforms, which operate from their space to serve the region.
This is under their co-working space services. They have also trained people in IT whose works are published on their website.
The Eastern Tech Hub says it is open for collaboration with both the public and private sectors to advance IT in the Eastern Region and beyond.
