Addressing the media at the site, Osei-Mensah indicated that AREGSEC heard about the attack on the ECG pylons and decided to visit the site to appreciate the extent of damage. He disclosed that the erection of new pylons will cost Ghana a whopping $1.2 million. “Every kilometre is about $2000 USD so for the six pylons that is going to cost about $1.2 million,” Osei-Mensah said.

The Ashanti Regional Minister urged the public to report suspicious people to the police to avoid future occurrence.

Ing Collins Manu, Deputy Communications Officer for ECG, on his part, disclosed to the media that some of  pylons, which carry electricity voltage of 33kg had been destroyed, affecting power supply to areas such as Manso, Kumawu and Jacobu among others.

Earlier, AREGSEC visited Akwatialine slum, to look at insecurity, health and environmental challenges confronting the people.
