Nigerian music superstar Davido has congratulated Ghana’s former President, John Dramani Mahama, following his apparent victory in the December 7, 2024, elections.
In a tweet shared with his millions of followers, Davido celebrated the news with a simple yet jubilant post: “🇬🇭 @JDMahama … Cc @SharafMahama18.” The message has gone viral, sparking a wave of reactions from fans and political supporters alike.
Meanwhile, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has conceded defeat, acknowledging Mahama’s lead in the early results. Official results from the Electoral Commission are expected shortly to confirm the outcome.
As Ghana’s presidential and legislative elections concluded, initial tallies indicate a decisive lead for Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), projected to secure approximately 52.7% of the vote. Bawumia, representing the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), trails significantly with 40.1%.
This outcome aligns with pre-election polls, which strongly favoured Mahama. A survey conducted by Global Info Analytics between October 28 and November 2, 2024, had predicted a decisive victory for Mahama, showing him leading Bawumia by nearly 20 percentage points.
