Court remands Bukom Banku over stabbing

An Accra Circuit Court, presided over by Adelaide Abui Keddy, has remanded Braimah Kamoko, alias Bukom Banku, 50, a boxer, and two others into police custody for various offences.

Bukom Banku, together with Prosper Quaye, 32, an unemployed and Mustapha Kamoko, 25, also unemployed, were charged with abetment of crime, causing unlawful harm and causing damage respectively. They, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The court was told that the complainant, Ismael Neequaye, who is a footballer, was attacked by the accused persons at Bukom, near James Town.

This happened on November 25, 2022 at about 12:30pm, where the complainant was in the room sleeping, when he heard unusual noise around his house.

He then woke up to discover that the accused persons were attacking some friends of his, including one Julius, a witness in the case.

In view of that, he approached them to calm the situation, but Bukom Banku, on seeing him broke a bottle and gave it to Prosper to inflict wounds on Ismael.

Prosper allegedly did as Bukom Banku has advised and inflicted a deep wound on the abdomen of the complainant, which bled profusely.

Mustapha Kamoko also took a stone and threw it at a 32inchs television belonging to Julius Tagoe.

The complainant was rushed to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, where he was admitted after a report was made at the James Town Police station.

Meanwhile, all efforts made to arrest the accused persons proved futile, until a criminal summons was prepared to serve on them to appear before the court.

The case was adjourned to November 17.
