The Circuit Court 8 in Accra, presided over by His Honour JojoAmoah Hagan, has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of two brothers — Sampson Amanor, 53, and George Amanor, 60 — after they failed to appear before the court to answer multiple charges relating to a fraudulent land transaction at Lashibi in the Greater Accra Region.
The two, both drivers residing at Lashibi, are facing four counts, including conspiracy to commit crime, conflicting grant of land to more than one person, grant of land without authority, and grant of land without title, contrary to various provisions of the Land Act, 2020 (Act 1036) and the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29).
The case, which was called on Monday, was prosecuted by Inspector Nego Dzigbordi, who informed the court of the accused persons’ absence. Consequently, His Honour Jojo Amoah Hagan issued a bench warrant for their arrest and adjourned proceedings to November 4, 2025.
Facts of the Case
According to the brief facts presented to the court, the complainant, Isaac Amuzu Agbodogli, a businessman also residing at Lashibi, reported to the Baatsona Divisional CID that in 2022, the two accused persons offered him a parcel of land at Lashibi for sale.
The complainant alleged that the Amanor brothers collected a total of GH¢250,000.00 as full payment for the land.
However, when he attempted to construct a fence wall on the property, a man identified as Dzangma, accompanied by a taskforce from the Tema Development Corporation (TDC), stopped him, claiming ownership of the same parcel of land.
Subsequent investigations revealed that the accused persons had previously sold the same plot to another person, identified as Snani Agoni, whose matter is already pending before Circuit Court 4, Accra, under case number D2/891/24.
When arrested on July 29, 2024, the brothers reportedly admitted in their caution statements, given in the presence of an independent witness, that they had indeed collected the GH¢250,000.00 but failed to issue any land documents to the complainant, claiming they had none. They have also failed to refund the money.
Following further investigations, the police charged them with the offences and brought them before the court.
The case has been adjourned to November 4, 2025, pending the arrest of the accused persons.
