The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has indicated that an investigation conducted at the Abelemkpe residence of the former Minister for Sanition, Cecilia Abena Dapaah discovered $590,000 and GH¢2.73 million in cash.
The information was contained in the documents the OSP filed in court as part of processes for approval by the court to freeze the bank accounts of the former Bantama MP.
According to the OSP, it has confiscated the cash discovered during the the investigation on the basis that they were suspected to be tainted property.
The OSP is praying the court to grant the plea to continue to freeze Cecilia Dapaah’s Prudential Bank and Societe Generale bank accounts.
The office explained that the freeze will enable it to conduct further investigation into suspected corruption and corruption-related offences against the minister, and to also prevent the bank accounts from concealment or loss.
The application is expected to be moved at the High Court in Accra on Thursday, August 17, 2023.
