The Concerned Youth of Asante has strongly condemned a planned anti-Igbo demonstration in Ghana, citing the country’s tradition of hospitality and welcoming nature towards foreigners.
The group has expressed its opposition to the said planned demonstration.
The stance of the Concerned Youth of Asante on the planned anti-Igbo demonstration reflects the group’s commitment to promoting peace and unity in Ghana.
Nana Agyenim Boateng, aka Gyataba, while speaking to the issue at a press conference in Kumasi on Tuesday, emphasised that the presence of Igbo individuals in Ghana is not an issue and that they respect their roles in the communities.
“By rejecting hatred and division, we (the Concerned Youth of Asante) are working towards building a society where all residents can live together in harmony,” Nana Agyenim Boateng explained.
He revealed Asanteman’s history of welcoming foreigners and treating them with kindness, stating that the proposed demonstration is unnecessary and unwelcome.
Instead of targeting the Igbo community, Nana Agyenim Boateng urged the government to focus on strengthening the country’s borders to prevent malicious individuals from entering Ghana.
He emphasised that Ghanaians are known for their hospitable nature and are always ready to welcome foreigners with open hearts, but also advised foreigners to abide by Ghanaian laws and contribute positively to society.
The leader of the group noted that the Concerned Youth of Asante stands firm in promoting unity and peaceful coexistence among all residents in Ghana and it rejects hatred and division for shared humanity believing that Ghana’s diversity is a strength and that all residents should work together to build a harmonious society.
