Commonwealth Games end with thrilling closing ceremony

Artists including UB40 and Dexys Midnight Runners played at the Commonwealth Games Closing Ceremony.

They performed at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham to mark the end of the 11-day sporting event.

It also featured a sequence from dance theatre show Peaky Blinders which celebrated the vibrant energy and cultural heritage of the incredible Birmingham city.

Other artists included Apache Indian, Laura Mvula, Goldie, Jacob Banks, Jaykae, Ash, Mahalia, Musical Youth, Neelam Gill, Panjabi MC, Raza Hussain, Talulah-Eve and The Selecter.

The closing ceremony was aimed at showcasing the region’s musical talent from the past, present and future.

The closing ceremony took place in front of a live audience of 30,000 and included a formal handover to the state of Victoria, Australia, which will host the 2026 Commonwealth Games.
