Residents of Obuasi Akaporiso had the shock of their lives when a civilian fought two armed military officers in an open confrontation.
In a video which has gone viral , a young man who is believed to be in his early forties, is depicted shouting at the two soldiers over their presence in the area,ordering them to stay away from a polling station,which is believed to be closeby.
In the middle of the argument,the civilian slapped the phone that belonged to one of the soldiers , when the armed officer attempted to video him. In all this , other civilians were urging the irate man to calm down.
The civilian was heard in video saying : “Let me tell …..if you try, you are going to bear the consequences”
Before long, the officer who was seen filming the civilian , slapped the civilian , a development which compelled the civilian to respond.
Soon after the melee ensued, the civilian and the officer took the fight to a wall closeby,where the number of civilians outnumbered the officers.
The lead civilian was seen punching his attacker (military officer) in the face, dazing the military officer to the ground,as other bystanders shouted “Take the rifles from them” but the soldiers held onto their rifles. In all this while, the other civilian managed to get the other soldiers on the ground.
After the soldiers had risen from the ground,the civilians who confronted earlier still held them tightly.
