Manchester City recovered from a two-goal deficit at West Ham to keep the Premier League title race in their own hands, but a late penalty miss from Riyad Mahrez meant they missed the chance to effectively win it.
Pep Guardiola’s side went into the game knowing that four points from their two remaining games would guarantee a sixth Premier League title, but were left shocked and two down at half-time after a brilliant double from Jarrod Bowen.
Jack Grealish’s deflected volley halved the arears four minutes into the second half, before Vladimir Coufal headed a Mahrez free-kick into his own net with 20 minutes remaining.
There was more drama to come. The Blues were awarded a penalty – after Anthony Taylor consulted the VAR – when Gabriel Jesus was fouled by Craig Dawson but Mahrez saw his spot-kick pushed away by Lukasz Fabianski.
