Manchester City continue their quest for an unprecedented fourth Premier League title against rivals Manchester United on Sunday.
While Pep Guardiola’s side have won eight of their ten League games, recent victories against Brentford and Bournemouth have come by only a single goal. Chasing a relentless Liverpool and an improving Arsenal at the top of the table, it hasn’t always looked totally convincing
Still, Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne were at their very best during Tuesday’s 6-2 win over Luton in the FA Cup with the latter laying on four assists for the former five-goal haul. With Phil Foden starring too, City look full of goals.
United, meanwhile, followed up their dramatic loss to Fulham last time out with a reasonably unconvincing win away at Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup.
Jack Grealish is City’s only major doubt for the Manchester derby at this stage, albeit Josko Gvardiol is yet to return to action. Guardiola last week confirmed, however, the defender was getting close to making his comeback.
For Man United, Harry Maguire missed the Forest game and a decision will need to be made on his fitness. Rasmus Hojlund will miss the derby, along with Mason Mount, Tyrell Malacia, Lisandro Martinez and Anthony Martial.
Given the ease with which teams are playing through Ten Hag’s side right now, it would be a major shock to see them topple City.
