‘Child Neglect Is Cause Of Social Vices’

A Veteran Actress /TV Show Personality in Ghana, Harriet Naa Ocansey, popularly known as “Auntie B” has called on individuals, organisations, political parties and churches, as well as government to support orphanage homes in Ghana.

According to her, one major contributing factor of social vices in Ghana is child neglect or abandonment at the early stages of their lives, creating room for street children and subsequently leading them into all forms of social vices.

The Veteran Actress acknowledged the pivotal role Orphanage Homes in Ghana play in nurturing and sustaining lives of these abandoned children, emphasising the need as a country to voluntarily equip orphanage homes with all the needed support to address the canker of street children and social vices.

Harriet Naa Ocansey made the disclosure when Millionaires Club Koforidua, a benevolent Association she belongs to, donated food items such as water, soft drinks and books among others to Hour of Grace Children’s Home at Huhunya and Akwadum Christian Center, all in the Eastern region.

Touching on the gesture, the Leader of Millionaires Club Koforidua, Ohemaa Love Kyerematen hinted that the donation was in line with the vision of the association to put smiles on the faces of the vulnerable.

Ohemaa Love Kyerematen further appealed to the government, all individuals, particularly Ghanaians abroad, to join the Millionaires Club Koforidua to effectively undertake its mission of supporting the vulnerable.

“I, therefore, on behalf of Millionaires Club Koforidua, want to appeal to the government, all individuals, particularly Ghanaians abroad, to join this club in order to enable us to effectively undertake our mission of supporting the vulnerable, like the children in the orphanage homes,” she noted.

Additionally, Love Kyeremateng revealed that the club operates in Koforidua, Kumasi and Sunyani, and receives support from Millionaires abroad to undertake its charity work.

As part of its charity work, Love Kyeremateng stressed that the club intends to extend the same support to some prison’s centres in the region and across the country this year.

Receiving the items on behalf of the two orphanage homes, the Manager and also the Founder of Hour of Grace Children’s Home Mr. Lawrence Gbehor expressed gratitude to Millionaires Club Koforidua for the generous gesture towards the orphans.
