Chelsea‘s new signing £88million Mykhailo Mudryk hit the ground running last Saturday as the Ukrainian impressed during a 35 minute cameo against Liverpool.
The winger impressed fans and pundits, but was unable to inspire his side to victory at Anfield, with the Blues left settling for a point following a 0-0 stalemate.
Mudryk did mark his first Premier League appearance by becoming the fastest player clocked in the top flight this season.
The 22-year-old achieved a top speed of 22.76mph during the match, according to Stas Perform, narrowly faster than the 22.74mph Everton’s Anthony Gordon managed against Fulham in October.
Mudryk and Gordon occupy fifth and sixth place respectively on the list of fastest Premier League players since the start of the 2020-21 season.
If Mudryk wishes to top the list one day, the winger would have to take the record off a former Chelsea star.
Centre back Antonio Rudiger, who left the Blues for Real Madrid last summer, surprisingly holds the accolade.
The German international was tracked at 22.81mph during Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Brighton back in December 2021.
Brighton wing back Tariq Lamptey lies second on the list with a top speed of 22.76mph
The flying Brighton wing back had previously held the record after achieving a top speed of 22.76mph against Newcastle in September 2020.
His mark has since been equalled by Liverpool star Mohamed Salah and Wolves’ Adama Traore, with the Spaniard having long been renowned for his sprints down the wing.
Manchester City’s Kyle Walker unsurprisingly features in the top 10, placing seventh with a speed of 22.72mph achieved back in 2020 against Leicester City.
