A Catholic Priest of the Corpus Christi Parish Catholic Church at Krofrom, in Kumasi, Rev. Father Lucas Bineh has expressed worry over the state of corruption, selfishness and self centered attitude in citizenry, which is eroding the nation’s socio-economic gains.
According to him, Ghanaians, especially those in authority have become corrupt, selfish and self centered in running the affairs in their jurisdictions, which he said was the reason we continue to lag behind in terms of development, thus affecting the standard of living of the citizenry.
The Rev. Father, who delivered a sermon during Mass Service at the Corpus Christi Parish Catholic Church last Sunday, expressed worry over the attitude of the Ghanaian citizens towards corruption.
He was speaking on the topic: “Love For One Another”.
According to him, as soon as one is elected into political office, the focus is on oneself and their families and become corrupt in an attempt to enrich themselves at the expense of the ordinary members of the society.
The Catholic Priest stressed the need for Ghanaians to eschew such an attitude of selfishness to enable us move forward as a country.
According to him, we cannot chalk any success as individuals or as a country without sacrifices in the interest of the general public.
He noted that the society and economic progress needed selfless citizens that frown on corruption and selfish attitude at the expense of the country and the progress of the citizenry.
Rev. Fr. Bineh lamented the transformation politicians go through overnight upon their election into political office and entreated political leaders to stop all acts of corruption while in office.
He condemned the 10% syndrome where office holders take some percentages from contractors before contracts are awarded to provide infrastructures and other social amenities.
Rev. Father Bineh advised Ghanaians, especially Christians, to choose Jesus in every aspect of their lives by surrendering everything that would attract their attention.
He tasked Ghanaians to believe in charity through love, for nothing would judge us other than love, and for that matter entreated Ghanaians to focus on doing good.
