Brother Kwasi Attah-Antwi has been inducted as the 9th Lay President of the Conference of Methodist Church Ghana at the Ramseyer Methodist Church in Kumasi.
He was elected as the Lay President of the Conference at a meeting of representatives at Winneba in August 2022.
Brother Kwasi Attah-Antwi, who has acquired several postgraduate professional qualifications, including certificates in Small and Micro Enterprises Development, Micro Finance, Project Management, Procurement and Project Financial Administration, was the National Director for the ongoing Programme phase, funded by the Government of Ghana, African Development Bank (AfDB) and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).
His induction last Sunday therefore is in accordance with and fulfillment of the provisions of the Constitution of the Church to recognize him as such for his election.
The Most Rev. Paul Kwabena Boafo, Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church Ghana, reminded Brother Kwasi Attah-Antwi at the induction ceremony that as a Lay President of the Conference his loyalty was his commitment to God to succeed.
According to him, Brother Kwasi Attah-Antwi was called into leadership at the time society or the country was looking for leaders with integrity, who had the nation at heart; a leader who would stand by integrity in the church, families, institutions, and for the nation against corruption, and stand out as the conscience of society.
He advised him to serve and lord it on the laypersons, adding that honour was accorded those who gave, and that as a leader he must give off his best to the service of God and society.
He reminded him of the task to inspire, guide and bring transformation and growth as the church was looking for people with integrity.
The Methodist Bishop stated that a leader upholds ideas, beliefs and hope of the people they lead, but do not go away with what brings us together as Ghanaians.
He lamented that our water bodies, farmlands, and forest reserves were being destroyed for selfish interests by our leaders, and implored the Lay President to uphold the Methodist beliefs and traditions, devoid of ego and pride.
Most Rev. Paul Kwabena Boafo entreated the leadership of the country to govern the nation and the church with respect and in humility, but not to exploit the resources of the country to enrich themselves or see them as personal property.
Brother Kwasi Attah-Antwi expressed his profound gratitude to God and the entire Methodist Church of Ghana for the confidence reposed in him, and promised to work and ensure the total development of the church to the glory of God.
He disclosed that he would work with other executives, especially the Bishops from the various churches, to ensure that all ongoing projects were completed on time to serve the intended purpose of reaching more souls.
