The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Berekum East in the Bono Region, Mr. Kofi Agyei, collapsed while addressing this year’s 66th Independence Day parade at Berekum.
Mr. Agyei was rushed to the Holy Family Hospital in Berekum for treatment.
Before Mr. Agyei mounted the podium to address the gathering, he looked healthy, but unfortunately midway through his speech he lost his speech, then started going down before the security around him went to his aid.
The National Ambulance Service on standby quickly rushed the MCE to the hospital.
The Chronicle is reliably informed that Mr. Agyei is responding to treatment.
The celebration went on as planned without any further hitches.
