Bayern Munich are poised to make another bid for Harry Kane this week.
Tottenham denied an opening offer had been received as they insist their captain is not for sale.
Bayern’s opening gambit was worth £60m plus add-ons – just short of £70m.
They believe an offer around £80m plus add-ons could get Daniel Levy talking with Kane indicating he would be interested.
Such a move for Kane, at 29, has not met approval from Bayern’s president Uli Hoeness who believes the England striker is too expensive.
However, former Bayern technical director Michael Reschke believes Kane must be the club’s priority and told Confidential: ‘Kane is one of the top three number nines in the world with Haaland and Mbappe.
‘If he joins Bayern he gives them a much greater chance of winning the Champions League.
‘That is the reason Bayern are fighting for him. Bayern can’t compete in bidding wars for the top players but they are still alluring to some if they show conviction.’
