Mallorca welcomes league champions of last season Barcelona in the opening day of the Spanish La Liga at Estadi Mallorca Son Moix on Saturday evening.

Clashes between these two sides have often produced lopsided results, with Barcelona firmly holding the upper hand. Out of their 32 meetings, the Catalan giants have claimed victory 27 times and drawn 3, leaving Mallorca with just 2 wins. The islanders, however, will be eager to add to that tally when they face Barça on Saturday.

The two sides last crossed paths twice last season, with Barcelona emerging victorious on both occasions. The first was a statement 5–1 away win in December, showcasing their attacking power, while the second was a hard-fought 1–0 home victory in April. Given this history, Mallorca face a formidable challenge as they kick off the new season against the reigning champions.

Barcelona ended the 2024–25 season on a high, storming to the La Liga title with an impressive tally of 102 goals, sealing a place in next season’s Champions League and completing a remarkable domestic treble under the guidance of Hansi Flick.

Their dominance was clear across all competitions, with a blend of attacking flair and defensive solidity that made them nearly unstoppable.

After last season’s triumph, Hansi Flick and his squad will be determined to defend their crown in the upcoming campaign.
