The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has advised the family of the late Apostle Professor Emeritus Kwadwo Safo to remain united and protect the legacy of their late father, cautioning that confusion and disunity could destroy the monumental achievements the iconic industrialist left behind.
“Do not allow confusion and anarchy to dissipate the legacy of the great Apostle Kwadwo Safo. Let unity and purpose guide you,” he said.
Speaking when the family of the late industrialist and founder of the KristoAsafo Mission of Ghana called on him in Parliament on Monday, October 13, 2025, Speaker Bagbin urged the children and relatives to preserve Apostle Safo’s heritage of innovation, philanthropy, and patriotism.
The move by the family was to officially inform Speaker Bagbin about the demise of the late Apostle Kwadwo Safo, so as to invite him to attend his 40-day observance, which would be held at the Legon Sports Stadium on Monday, October 20, 2025.
Commenting further, the Speaker described Apostle Safo as a “man of many parts — a pastor, engineer, philanthropist, and innovator — who gave hope to many,” adding that his death was a great loss to Ghana.
Speaker Bagbin recounted his admiration for the Apostle’s technological exhibitions and humanitarian works, which inspired national pride and creativity.
He also commended Sarah Adwoa Safo, daughter of the late Apostle and former MP for Dome-Kwabenya, describing her as a worthy representative of her father’s values through her service to the nation.
Bagbin clarified that despite public perception, Adwoa Safo never voted vote for him during the Speakership election in January 2021, though they continued to share mutual respect. He assured the family of Parliament’s full support in honouring Apostle Safo’s memory.
Also present at the meeting was the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Banda, Ahmed Ibrahim.
In his remarks, the lawmaker eulogised Apostle Safo as a pioneer of Ghana’s technical and innovation landscape.
He stressed that the Apostle’s contribution to national development merits a state burial, noting that his work advanced local engineering, agriculture and industrial progress.
Ahmed Ibrahim pledged his ministry’s support toward ensuring a befitting burial for the Apostle.
For her part, Sarah Adwoa Safo, speaking on behalf of the family, described her late father as “a pillar and a source of inspiration to the youth.”
She said the family’s visit was to formally inform the Speaker of his passing and to acknowledge the close bond between Parliament and the Safo family.
In line with tradition, she presented two bottles of schnapps to the Speaker on behalf of the family.
