The Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) has received a donation of 100 motorized sprayers valued at GH¢250,000 from K. Badu Agro Chemicals Company, as part of preparations for the upcoming National Farmers’ Day celebration.

This is the second donation received by the ministry in recent weeks. Just days earlier, Indede Company Limited also presented agricultural inputs to support the event.

Receiving the items on behalf of government, the minister, Eric Opoku, expressed appreciation to K. Badu Agro Chemicals, describing the gesture as a direct contribution to improving agricultural production.

“The ministry, on behalf of government, can only say we thank you. We want to assure you that we are going to serve as a conduit to ensure that the items you have given us are delivered to Ghanaian farmers who deserve them, because the purpose of this donation is to impact agricultural production,” the minister said.

He further called on other agribusinesses to emulate the example, stressing that private sector support is crucial to Ghana’s agricultural transformation.

The sprayers, described as jet motorized mist blowers, are designed for fumigation and spraying large farms, including cocoa plantations.

According to Lennox Badu, Manager of K. Badu Agro Chemicals’ Accra branch, the equipment is efficient, powerful, and suitable for applying fertilizers and pesticides.

“This is our way of supporting government’s Feed Ghana initiative introduced by His Excellency John Dramani Mahama to reduce the country’s $2 billion annual food import bill and modernise farming.

“By donating these sprayers, we are helping to grow the agricultural sector and improve productivity,” Mr. Badu explained.

He added that while the company was currently supporting MoFA, plans were underway to extend direct assistance to local farmers before the end of the year.

The National Farmers’ Day celebration, held annually, recognises the contribution of Ghanaian farmers and fishers to national development.
