The Ashanti Regional Council of Elders the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has recorded yet another breakthrough in resolving a dispute out of court ahead of the December elections.
The Council has within a month ironed out three crucial disputes that threatened the support base and vital votes for the party.
Yesterday, a Kumasi High Court struck out an application for injunction filed by Mr. Yaw Amoah Gyamih, a founding member and chairman of the Council of Elders of the NPP in the Bosome-Freho constituency in the Ashanti region at the instance of the applicant.
He had dragged Mr. Kwame Asafo Adjei Ayeh, the parliamentary candidate for Bosome-Freho and the NPP, on an issue of eligibility on the part of the PC.
Before the court could determine the matter, the Regional Council of Elders moved to settle the differences between the parties and caused the withdrawal of the suit in court.
His Lordship Frederick Tetteh, presiding over the High Court 7, said it was in the interest of the parties to settle the matter out of court.
The court noted that the parties would need their energy to campaign for their party instead of litigating and accordingly struck out the case at the instance of the plaintiff.
Mr. Yaw Amoah Gyamih was represented in court by Patrick Asante Nnuro Esq., while lawyer Kofi Boateng Peprah and Shadrack Obeng Esq. represented the first defendant, Asafo Adjei Ayeh and NPP, the second defendant.
The Council of Elders delegation in court were; chairman Kwabena Dwomo (former Bantama constituency chairman), Alex Kwaku Korankye, former Asante Akim MP and Board chairman of the Middle Belt Development Authority; Oheneba Owusu Danso (former CEO KATH), Dr. Moussa Jabir Kabir, Vice chairman of the Council and Victor Owusu Jnr. (Secretary).
Last month, the Ashanti Regional Council of Elders of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) resolved a conflict at the Offinso North constituency where
Dr. Fred Kyei, the Parliamentary candidate smoked the peace pipe with constituency executives.
Earlier in August this year, the Council also successfully worked for the return of former New Patriotic Party Member of Parliament for Ejisu Constituency, Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, back to the NPP fold.
The Former Deputy Roads and Highways Minister left the NPP and contested as an independent candidate in the by-election in Ejisu, last April, following the death of the former MP, Dr John Ampontuah Kumah.
