He said, under the leadership of the former President John Dramani Mahama, the NDC is committed to the vision of the 24-hour economy, which proposition is driven by the pressing need to address unemployment challenges across various sectors of the economy.

According to the Secretary, the NDC believes that transitioning to a 24-hour economy would unlock immense opportunities for businesses and individuals, and emphasised that anyone against the policy was an enemy of economic liberation and did not have the interest of the youth at heart, since the policy is here to provide jobs.

He noted that the policy would enable workers to earn additional salaries by taking up additional jobs through the 24-hour shift system.

Dr Amoakohene disclosed that Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, in particular, is on record to have stated how he took up a restaurant job whiles in the UK, out of school hours, to earn some money and reiterated that the 24-hour economy initiative aims at creating a vibrant and dynamic economic landscape that operates round the clock. He added that the Youth and even students would be given opportunities under the policy

He noted that the initiative would not only provide employment for the youth, but contribute significantly to the economic growth of the region.

The Regional Scribe indicated that once in government, the NDC would be committed to supporting both private and public institutions in the implementation of the 24-hour economy initiative, in the form of policy frameworks, tax incentives and collaboration with relevant stakeholders.

He revealed that the government, under John Dramani Mahama, shall also provide maximum security to ensure the success of the policy, through a partnership between the government and businesses, which is crucial for the successful realisation of the vision.

Dr Amoakohene indicated that the NDC is the only government that prioritises health issues and the development of Ashanti Region is evident in various projects initiated by the NDC, under John Dramani Mahama, but abandoned by the NPP administration.
