Daasebre Osei Bonsu III, the successor of Daasebre Osei Bonsu II, the late Paramount Chief of Asante Mampong Traditional Area, is slated to swear the oath of allegiance before the Overlord of Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, on Monday January 19, 2026 at Manhyia Palace.
Monday’s Ceremony brings the nomination and installation processes to a close to consolidate his enstoolment as the Omanhene of Asante Mampong.
The proposed ceremony was announced when the Kingmakers, Queen and Mamponghene-elect visited the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi on Monday, January 12, 2026, to inform Otumfuo about the successful completion of the installment rites for Mr. Leslie Nkansa Osei-Bonsu as a result of which His Royal Majesty Opemsuo Osei Tutu directed them to present the nominee to swear the oath of allegiance on January 19, 2026, before the Asanteman Council.
The new Mamponghene-elect, Daasebre Osei Bonsu III, is from the BotaaseBretuo Royal House, one of the five royal lineages of the Bretuo Dynasty of Asante Mampong.
He is a certified Scrum Master and Product Owner, and a long-standing member of IEEE, ACM, and the IEEE Computer Society.
His career reflects a lifelong commitment to excellence, mentorship, and meaningful impact -making him not just a builder of systems, but a builder of people and purpose.
With advanced degrees in Computational Science and Geo-Information Science and a First Class B.Sc. in Geomatic Engineering, the new Mamponghene brings a rare blend of technical depth, strategic foresight, and operational leadership like his predecessors who contributed to the growth and development of Asante Mampong.
Notable chiefs from the Bretuo Dynasty of Asante Mampong include Nana Boahen Anantuo, a powerful warrior and one of the earliest chiefs of Mampong, who played a crucial role in the Asante-Denkyira war; Nana Akuamoa Panin who succeeded Nana Boahen Anantuo; known for his bravery; Nana Amaniampong, a powerful ruler who defeated the Bono at Ejura and expanded Mampong’s territory and Daasebre Osei Bonsu II who ruled from 1996 to 2025, making him one of the longest-serving chiefs in Mampong’s history.
