Armed men, numbering four, have attacked a phone shop at Kwame Danso in the Sene West District in the Bono East region, killing two persons and injuring three others.
The suspected robbers made away with phones and other accessories worth thousands of Ghana Cedis.
Information available to The Chronicle indicates that the suspects entered the shop a few minutes after the power outage within Kwame Danso around 7:41pm and left the scene a few minutes before the lights were restored.
The bodies of the victims – Adamu Ibrahim, 40, and Abubakar Karim, 19, have been handed over to the family, whilst the injured have been transferred to Yeji for further treatment.
No arrest had been made at the time of filing this report, according to the Sene West District Police Command.
The families of the deceased are urging the police to seek justice for their sons.The incident has left many people in fear and panic, hindering their daily activities.
Meanwhile, the Atebubu Divisional Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Caesar Abanga has visited the crime scene and the bereaved family.
Mr. Abanga assured the families of the necessary measures in place to apprehend the culprits.
The police commander reiterated that their doors are open for any necessary information to assist in arresting the culprits.
PREVIOUS ROBBERIES AT KWAME DANSO
In August, 2021 two suspected armed robbers who had gone to the mosque to pray after successfully robbing the Wapco Fuel station at Wiasi, a suburb of Kwame Danso, in the Bono East region were arrested by the Police.
The Suspects – Mustapha Selemana, 27, and Muali Seidu, 42,made away with an amount of GHc12,760 and also shot one customer who was at the fuel station to buy petrol.
A day after the suspects committed the crime, they went to the mosque at a community known as Shafa in the same district to pray.
The Atebubu Divisional Police Command, in collaboration with the anti-robbery squad, after picking up a tip-off about the whereabouts of the suspects, quickly rushed to the mosque and surrounded it. The suspects, realising that their end had come, then surrendered to the police.
In June 2016, two police officers and three others were arrested by the then Brong Ahafo Regional Police for aiding the robbery attack that led to the death of a Police Constable in Kwame-Danso, near Atebubu, in the then Brong Ahafo region.
The number brings to six those arrested, after the police had picked up the prime suspect on Sunday, June 12.
The deceased, Police Constable Frank AduKlu, was shot dead whilst escorting a commercial bus.
The then Brong Ahafo Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Christopher Tawiah mentioned Police Lance Corporal Asiedu Mensah and Corporal Solomon Abu from Goaso and Atebubu divisions respectively as suspects of the time.
