The African Prosperity Network (APN) is set to hold the maiden edition of the Africa Prosperity Dialogues dubbed the “Kwaku Summit”.
Because the idea for the summit was hatched at Kwaku’s Rock City Hotel, it is known as the Kwaku Summit.
The Dialogue will provide African political and economic leaders with a forum to advance ideas to improve Africa, with the overall objective of generating prosperity throughout the continent.
Addressing a news conference in Accra today, the Executive Director and Coordinator at the Summit Secretariat, Eugene Owusu said the summit is being organized in partnership with the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat and the Government of Ghana (GoG).
The maiden Dialogue, he disclosed, will be held in Ghana from 26-28 January 2023 under the theme, “AfCFTA-From Ambition to Action – Delivering Prosperity through Continental Trade.”
The theme reflects the tremendous opportunities that the AfCFTA presents for deepening intra-African trade and for advancing prosperity of the continent overall.
According to Mr Owusu, the dialogue will be in two parts, “26th -27th January – Business and Policy Leaders Dialogue that will take place at the Safari Valley Resort at Adukrom in the Akwapim Hills”
Also, on January 28, the Presidential and Business Leaders Summit that will be held at the Peduase Presidential Lodge.
“The Business and Policy Leaders Dialogue will bring together business executives, trade associations, ministers of state, heads of Regional Economic Communities under the AU, technocrats, women, young entrepreneurs and Thought Leaders to define practical ‘Quick Wins’ to move the AfCFTA initiative from Ambition to Action,” he added.
The Presidential and Business Leaders Summit, Mr. Eugene Owusu noted will be a high-level roundtable dialogue between selected African Heads of State and Business and Industry Leaders.
This is expected to culminate in the adoption of a Compact between the Heads of State and the Business Leaders, with an actionable roadmap and metrics for measuring progress.
The Summit, which will bring about 150 policy and leaders is expected to help define concrete strategic actions by political and business leaders across the continent, including the right mix of policies.
It will also foster a greater sense of purpose for more robust intra-Africa trade to support the much needed industrialization of the continent, which is so key for the prosperity of all Africans.
The Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, who was also present at the news conference stated that the dialogue will serve as a platform for leaders to explore their ideas.
The minister continued that two of the great needs of Africa, which are to increase the intra-African Investment Story and the intra-African Trade story will take advantage of the discussions that will take place at the summit.
