A 21-year-old fisherman, Michael Dodoo, also known as Akufo Addo, has been remanded into police custody by the Dansoman Circuit Court for his alleged involvement in a vehicle theft incident that occurred at Accra Central.
Michael Dodoo, who pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy to commit crime, unlawful entry and stealing, appeared before Her Honour Halimah El-Alawa Abdul-Bassit on Thursday. He is to reappear in court on October 20, 2025.
According to the facts presented by Chief Inspector Christopher Wonder, the Prosecutor, Dodoo and three accomplices – identified as Prince, Amuquaye and Sadiku, all currently at large on September 20, 2025 conspired to steal from a parked vehicle belonging to Seidu Mohammed, a businessman residing in Koforidua.
The court heard on the October 6 that the complainant parked his Opel vehicle in front of the UBA Bank at Accra Central and left it unlocked while he crossed the road to buy tea.
His bag, which contained two Tecno mobile phones valued at GH¢3,500 and cash amounting to GH¢50,800, was left inside the car. The accused persons allegedly opened the vehicle and made away with the items.
Police acting on intelligence arrested Dodoo, who was found in possession of two Tecno mobile phones later identified by the complainant as his.
During interrogation, Dodoo reportedly admitted that he and his accomplices had stolen the items, but said a dispute arose during the sharing of the stolen money, after which one of the accomplices allegedly took custody of the cash.
Efforts are currently underway to arrest the three accomplices; Prince, Amuquaye and Sadiku, as police continue investigations into the case.
