Akomea warns Alan: Halt The Attack On Bawumia!

Dr Mahamudu Bawumia- NPP flagbearer

The Chief Executive Officer of the State Transport Company, Nana Akomea, is not happy with the founder of the Movement for Ghana, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen. He is unhappy about what he thinks are unwarranted attacks on the presidential candidate of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) by Mr. Kyerematen.

Speaking on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo programme on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 Nana Akomea advised   the independent presidential candidate, Alan Kyerematen, to concentrate on his core campaign message for Ghanaians.

He explained that, whereas attacking Dr. Bawumia might not be to his (Alan) advantage, his message would be of interest to the Ghanaian electorate.

The former Minister for Trade and Industry, Alan Kyerematen, is reported to have said last week, at a rally, that the presidency and vice president are a combined ticket.

He thus said Dr. Bawumia, as the vice president, has done all he could and has nothing more or new to offer Ghanaians in the next four years.

However, Nana Akomea, who was a key member of Dr. Bawumia’s campaign team, debunked that assertion.

According to him, the claim of Alan Kyerematen had no leg to stand on, citing that Ghanaians had on two occasions, elected NDC Vice Presidents John Evans Atta Mills and John Mahama to the presidency.

Nana Akomea argued that the NPP delegates have also, in the just-ended primaries, voted massively for a vice president to succeed a president against all odds.

He also pointed out that the sitting presidents of Kenya and Tanzania earlier served as vice presidents, as well as President Biden of the United States. Also, Goodluck Jonathan of Nigeria served as Vice President before being elected president, among several other examples in history.

Nana Akomea wondered how all these facts could have eluded Mr. Alan Kyerematen to come to the conclusion he made.

Dr. Bawumia would soon outline to the nation a compelling vision and action plan that would define his candidacy and propel him to victory in December 2024.

Since he parted ways with the NPP, Alan Cash, as he is widely known, has outlined his vision for Ghana through his Great Transformational Plan, which contains ten thematic areas. However, he has not named any running mate, going into next year’s presidential elections.

The Vice President, and now the flag bearer of the ruling New Patriotic Party, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is yet to outline his vision for Ghana and outdoor his running mate.

In his inaugural speech on the night he was unveiled as the leader of the NPP, Dr. Bawumia made a rather emphatic statement that he is a man of his own and has his own vision for Ghana.

His statement was in apparent response to criticism that he could not distance himself from the records of the Akufo-Addo government, under which he served as the vice president.

Dr. Bawumia had earlier, in his address, acknowledged the challenges facing the economy, but indicated that the foundation built by the administration, led by his boss, Akufo-Addo, would culminate in further progress under his presidency.
