The Ameer of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission Ghana, Alhaji Ahmad Suleman Anderson, has commended Inspector General of Police, Dr George Akuffo Dampare, for his transformational leadership.
He said under the leadership of Dr Dampare, the Mission has come to understand what policing is all about, how citizens will cooperate with the police towards peace of the country, as well as his vision of making Ghana the reference point to the rest of the world.
Alhaji Anderson said this in an interview with the media after the IGP’s engagement with the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission, Ghana, in Accra on Monday, this week.
“Since IGP Dampare took office, there have been a lot of improvements in policing. Normally, we would have seen people with tree branches directing traffic, when the traffic lights go off. But we have just realised as soon as these traffic lights go off, the police are always there to direct traffic. These are some of the useful things that we have observed”, he said.
The influx of beggars on the street of Accra was one the issues that the Ameer tabled before the IGP and his police management board.
He was certain that with the assurance from the IGP and his team, the beggars will be removed from the streets completely.
The Ameer was also grateful to Dr. Dampare for being the first IGP to have visited the headquarters of the mission and for having a fruitful discussion with them, and “we hope that this will continue.”
The Director of Public Affairs, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Grace Ansah-Akrofi said the meeting was part of the IGP and members of the police management board stakeholders’ engagements with the public.
The session with the Ameer and elders of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission had discussions hovering round security arraignments for the Christmas and the New Year festivities approach.
She said the elders of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission could be assured that the Police Service would continue to provide security and maintain law and order in the country.
