Four royal gates from the late Otumfuo Baidoo Bonso Family, who had travelled all the way from Busua and beyond with the hope to confer with the Chieftaincy Minister, Stephen Asamoah Boateng, were left stranded at the Regional House of Chiefs last Tuesday.
The gates, made up of Kwesi Bediako, Ahamadze, Akade and Baidoo Bonsoe Family, were allegedly locked out at the Regional House of Chiefs unable to meet and confer with the Chieftaincy Minister.
The sector Minister was for the first time at the House to confer with the members last Tuesday since he took office. He has been unable to meet the House because of litigations which had thrown it into disarray.
But thanks to Nana Akwanzi Abroba, Divisional Chief of Princess Town, who managed to broker peace amongst the warring factions, the sector Minister was able to meet and confer with the House.
The Spokesperson of the royal family gate, Aso Prah, who identified himself as the Mankrado of Ahanta, narrated to Western File that, the four gates had been informed to come and meet the Chieftaincy Minister at the House, following misunderstandings about the Ahanta chieftaincy brouhaha.
The gates set off at dawn with the hope of meeting the Minister, but were shocked at how they were handled at the gate of the House. Eventually, they were not allowed entry to meet the Minister
Aso Pra accused the Regional Registrar of deliberately using the police to lock them out of the House, and described the conduct as disrespectful and desecration of the royal stool.
“To invite us to come and meet the Minister, only for you to lock us out is not only disrespectful, but desecration of our stool.”
