The four chiefs, together with their queenmothers, swore oaths before the Omanhene at an open durbar where they pledged allegiance.

The chiefs are Nana Appiah Agyarko IV, Benkumhene, Nana Arizi Armah II, Adontehene, Nana Kofi Mensah V and Nana Kojo Nrenza IV, Odikro.

As tradition and custom demands, each of the chiefs and their queenmothers, led by the head of the royal family (Ebusuapayin), at the mention of their names walked up to the where the Omanhene was seated, raise their ‘Akonfra”, and swore the oath and pledged allegiance.

After all the oaths, the Omanhene also walked up to each of the chiefs and repeat the oath by pledging allegiance to each of them.

Addressing the new chiefs and queenmothers, Awuale Agyefi Kwame challenged them to ask themselves why amongst all other candidates for the positions, they were settled.

He said they were not chosen because of beauty, but that the family saw in them special qualities to lead their various communities.

As a result, they should make it a point to serve their traditional area.

Awuale Agyefi Kwame, however, reminded the chiefs that they had not come before him to pledge allegiance to join him rule, but to help bring development and progress to Lower Axim and Nsein.

He further used the occasion to debunk rumours that he would never work with sub-chiefs who did not have formal education, explaining that it was important that chiefs needed to acquire formal education before they ascend the stool.
