Youth groups and various stakeholders in the Sekyere East Constituency in the Ashanti region have hailed the candidature of Richard Barima Sarpong, the spokesperson of NHIA, as their Parliamentary candidate on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party.
At a press conference at Asante Agona yesterday, the youth groups approved Barima Sarpong’s bid to represent constituents of Afigya Sekyere East.
The Spokesperson of the groups, Mustapha Kofi Abraham, from Bepoase, described the Parliamentary aspirant as a Political Scientist, whose intervention, dubbed “Afigya Project” has introduced some novel initiatives to lessen the financial burden of the natives of the Afigya Sekyere East constituency.
Mustapha Kofi Abraham said the “AFIGYA PROJECT”, proposed by Barima Sarpong, which seeks to serve children, youth and the elderly in the constituency is enough basis for our trust in his candidature”.
The youth group also stated that the message of hope by Barima Sarpong has gone down well with them and they support his bid to represent them in parliament. They attested to the contribution of Barima Sarpong as an individual, to the lives of many people in the constituency.
The group also identified easy accessibility of Richard Barima Sarpong and his natural niche with the average voter qualities of a good leader, who can champion their development.
The youth noted that Afigya Sekyere East deserves a Member of Parliament like Barima Sarpong, who is humble, well-educated and can represent them in Parliament.
According to them, Barima Sarpong, with his legal education can best represent the constituents with dignity and stressed that they cannot afford to resort to “try and error” methods in choosing a parliamentarian.
They also explained that as an indigene born and bred at Dawu, Barima Sarpong, who has lived with them is conversant with the people and the area.
“Barima has more realistic message, tailored to address the pressing issues of youth unemployment and general welfare of the constituents”, the youth indicated.
“We, the youth, as stakeholders, have hope and confidence in Richard Barima Sarpong”, they said and called on NPP delegates to vote for Barima Sarpong in the upcoming primaries as the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for the 2024 elections.
